The Flower Club - Waikato Flower CSA
The Conscious Blooms Flower Club is a subscription for blooms grown sustainably by us, without any nasty chemicals. Our flowers are grown right here under the Maunga in Pirongia, and are usually picked the same morning as you pick up your subscription (unlike flowers at the supermarket that have often been picked weeks earlier, doused in chemicals and shipped in from overseas…)
Buying a membership in the Conscious Blooms Flower Club means you not only get fresh, beautiful flowers in your home each week, but you also become part of positive change within the flower industry by helping to create a sustainable flower industry in NZ, as well as support a local family business.
Conscious Blooms Flower Club offers monthly memberships for flowers on a weekly or fortnightly basis, for yourself or a flower loving friend.
What is the Flower Club?
The Flower Club is like a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) scheme, which is a relationship between a community and a local farmer, often a fruit or vegetable farmer, but in this case we’re all about flowers. In this relationship, I provide you, the Flower Club member (the CSA subscriber), with a curated selection of beautiful seasonal blooms for each period of your subscription, for you to collect on Thursdays between 10:30am - 5pm from Needle in the Hay, Barton Street, Hamilton (or from the Conscious Blooms plot here in Pirongia).
The Flower Club - Buckets or Bouquets?
The bucket membership is a treat for the flower lover who enjoys getting creative to construct their own arrangements. Each period, members receive a small bucket of loose stems from several varieties of carefully curated flowers and foliage, perfect for making several small posies to scatter around the house or one large bouquet. They are supplied wrapped in a recyclable paper sleeve in a tin of water, so there is no wasted packaging. With advance notice, members have the option to add a bouquet to their share any week if they need more flowers for a special occasion or gift.
The bouquet memberships are pre-arranged, and consist of one whimsical hand-tied bouquet designed by Ali at Conscious Blooms, presented to members in a brown paper wrap for easy transport or gift giving. Members simply fill a vase at home with fresh water, snip the ends of the flower stems, and place the bouquet in the vase for a beautiful addition to their home or office.
Who is Conscious Blooms?
Hi, I’m Ali
I began growing cut flowers here under Pirongia mountain five years ago because I wanted people to experience flowers for the everyday joy they bring, not just for special occasions. Flowers you can safely bury your nose into, grown locally, seasonally, consciously and with love.
I use techniques borrowed from regenerative and permaculture practices, these names and those of organic and spray-free all mean different things to different people, so I prefer to just call it common sense gardening – growing sustainably, being kind to the soil, microorganisms and plants, and leaving lots of nectar rich offerings for the bees and butterflies. I’m into bugs (it’s the scientist in me), so you’ll find lots of beneficial insects, poo brews and compost on my plot, and the odd hitchhiker on my flowers (it’s all about balance, not eradication here!)
